Nimbi is a bedtime storytelling app for families. We are committed to protecting your privacy, especially the privacy of children. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What data we collect
Nimbi is designed to collect as little data as possible. Specifically:
- Child profiles — name, birth year, and interests you enter for your children. This data is stored only on your device and never sent to our servers.
- Generated stories — stories created by the app are stored locally on your device.
- Story generation — when you create a story, your request is sent to our secure backend server, which calls the Anthropic API on your behalf. No API key is required from the user.
- Usage data — we may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (e.g. how many stories are generated per session) to improve the app. This data does not include any personally identifiable information.
What data we do NOT collect
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or any contact information.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not create user accounts.
- We do not sell, share, or rent your data to any third party.
- We do not use advertising SDKs or tracking pixels.
Children's privacy
Nimbi is designed for use by parents with their children. We take children's privacy very seriously:
- Children's names and profiles are stored exclusively on your device.
- No child data is ever transmitted to our servers.
- We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
- The app is intended to be used under parental supervision.
AI story generation
Nimbi uses the Anthropic API to generate bedtime stories. When a story is created, the following information is sent to Anthropic:
- The child's first name
- The child's age (computed from birth year)
- Selected interests and mood
- Requested story length and any optional topics
This data is sent to Anthropic solely for the purpose of generating the story. Please refer to Anthropic's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle API data.
Data storage
All personal data (child profiles, stories, settings) is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. We do not operate servers that store your personal information. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.
Third-party services
- Anthropic API — used for story generation. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Apple In-App Purchases — used for optional donations. Any payment processing is handled entirely by Apple via the App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Your rights
Since we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is no account to delete or data to request. All your data lives on your device and can be removed at any time by deleting the app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
